Day 01: Escape to Bantayan Island

July 08, 2017

Bantayan Island is an island located at west of the northern end of Cebu. It has a long stretch of beautiful, serene and unsoiled beaches. Aside from the gorgeous scenery, you'll be captivated by the hospitality and genuine smiles of the Bantayanons - as what the locals are called.

Actually, getting there is easy! And if you're asking about expenses, no need to worry. All you need is less. We spent 2 days and 1 night there and I regret why we didn't stay longer. But nevertheless, it was worth it.

My friends and I already arranged our hotel just around Mandaue City. We made sure the hotel's near North Bus Terminal so we can catch an early trip to Hagnaya Port. Copenhagen East Residences was the cheapest and it was definitely worth the stay.

We took the 3 hour bus ride headed to Hagnaya Port. From there a boat will take you an hour or less to Santa Fe Port in Bantayan. And voila! A tricycle can take you to your resort for only 20 pesos.

TIP: Stay longer to explore more of the island and do it like a local. You'll love it!

Here are rough estimates of our expenses excluding food, airfare and island hopping (because we weren't able to avail due to limited time).

🚌 Bus to port Php165
Hagnaya port to Santa Fe ticket plus terminal fee Php180
🏍 Tricycle to Kota Beach Resort (known as Camp Sawi) Php20
🚲 Bike rental Php150
🏍 Motor/Scooter rent 350
🌊 Santa Fe Beach Club (Ogtong Cave) entrance fee Php100
Kota Beach Resort overnight stay Php900
